Food Pantry

First graders had a wonderful December! We studied non fiction writing and wrote our own non fiction books teaching all about a subject. Writing complete thoughts in complete sentences is still difficult for most of us, but we are improving every day.  We learned about the difference between fact and opinion too.

In Math class we learned the position of a digit in a number determines the value. We practiced comparing and ordering numbers.

In Social Studies we learned about us on the map. We studied maps and globes to determine where we live. We now know our city, state, country, continent, and planet. With the help of everyone we had another successful restock of the micro pantries for our kindness project.

We are becoming rock stars at reading. Students are improving their accuracy and fluency skills every week. And we are becoming much more independent in following directions and getting our work completed. We are greatly looking forward to what the new year will bring.
