We can’t believe that we are over halfway through January 2024! Students have been working hard with their learning. They did amazing with the couple of days of E-learning, and were ready to get right back on track upon returning to school. In writing, students have been working hard on persuasive essay writing. They are focusing on completing research to broaden their evidence. During math, they have been spending more time practicing two digit times two digit multiplication problems. We will be focusing on division in the coming week. In reading, we have been practicing our CAFE strategies using novel studies and stories like “My Brother Martin” by Christine King Farris. For social studies, we are starting to wrap up our focus on the Southeast region of the United States. Students have been working hard to learn their states and capitals for this region.
It has been an unexpectedly short couple of weeks since winter break, but students have continued to persevere. They have been working hard to implement McKinley’s whole school behavior plan, “We are respectful, we are responsible, we are safe!”
