Hello McKinley Mustangs! I wanted to start off by thanking you all for completing STEM E-Learning assignments during our E-Learning days. It looks like everyone who participated seemed to enjoy the experiments.

For the month of February students will be working on:

Kindergarten-1st Grade: After previously learning about the creation of snow and snowflakes, we will be constructing igloos made out of cardboard and cotton balls.

2nd Grade: We will be learning about engineering. Students have previously worked on building famous structures using LEGOs, so they will now be able to apply their knowledge of architecture towards building our own famous structures using an assortment of materials.(cardboard, plastic cups, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, straws, ect.)

3rd Grade: We will be learning about the petroleum industry. We will be learning about positive and negative effects the petroleum industry has on society and the environment. Currently students have been learning about major oil spills, and how we can create solutions towards helping oil cleanup/preservation.

4th Grade: We have been learning about bioengineering. Students have learned about Winter the Dolphin and have learned about animal prosthetics. Within our unit on bioengineering students will construct their own prosthetic for an animal, as well as learning about the accessibility of prosthetics for humans.
