We have lots of goodies on our list and found table. If you see something that belongs to your child let us know so we can send it home. The things left on the table after winter break will be donated. Thanks!

Young children are learning to manage their behaviors and feelings. Your responses matter to children in these moments. Sometimes adults need to stop behaviors that are unsafe or extremely disruptive and help children understand how to behave appropriately

Positive Guidance for Young Children: Be Thoughtful
The preschoolers made ornaments to decorate for the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest. The contest is hosted by Prairie Fox Books but our tree is located at the offices of WCMY (216 W. LaFayette St.) You can see it from the window if you walk by. You can also scan the QR code (see attached) and vote for our tree! PS. The preschoolers made candy cane ornaments to hang on the tree and they worked on patterns. They all did a great job!

Wow! Lincoln is so lucky to have such talented 1st and 2nd grade singers! They entertained the crowd with amazing performances at our 2024 LES Winter Program. A big thank you to Mrs Heth for organizing the performance and the students for all of their hard work. We can't wait to see more when the LES Kindergarteners and 3rd/4th graders perform for us this spring!

As we get into winter and the weather gets colder here are some reminders that help us keep our Lincoln students safe: Arrival Students may arrive at school starting at 8:00. Student will not be allowed to enter the building prior to this time. Please do not drop your child off at school prior to 8:00 as there will be no staff on duty to supervise them. When the bell rings at 8:15, students will be brought into the building by Lincoln staff and walked to the classrooms. Once students have entered the building, all school doors will be locked. Any student that arrives after 8:15 should enter the building at the Main Street door and buzz in to the office or the north Leland Street door where staff is stationed until 8:20. After 8:20, students must buzz in at the Main street door and go to the office for a pass to go to class. Students are marked tardy if they are not in their classroom by 8:20. We do not have staff assigned to any other door, but the north Leland Street door. If your child goes to the Madison Street door, they will not be able to enter. All parent drop off, (car and walkers) should be on Leland street beginning at 8:00. Just a reminder that we have staff available on Leland to collect students that are dropped off from cars (no need to park and walk your children to the school) and make sure they get to the appropriate morning location safely. Parents that choose to walk their child to the playground upon arrival (weather permitting), should stay on the sidewalks away from the fence or student line-up areas. At school, students are taught how to appropriately interact with their peers and follow school expectations. Often students will choose instead to interact with adults that may be near the fence or line up area. It is challenging to ensure the safety of all students when there are many extra adults present. Please keep your child(ren) with you until 8:00. When there is inclement weather (rain, snow, etc) all children must be dropped off at the north Leland Street entrance, where staff is stationed, in order to enter the school. Please dress your child(ren) for the cold weather Remember the Frosty 5! Please make sure your child comes to school in a coat, gloves, hats, pants, socks and appropriate shoes or boots. During Colder Months, we want to make sure students are getting outside for recess cold air does not make us sick, germs make us sick! We ensure students get outside for recess/ gross motor time. Outdoor recess time allows children to get fresh air, provides an opportunity for children to engage in moderate to vigorous physical activity, and gives students more activity options than most indoor spaces. The Office of Student Health and Wellness recommends using 20 degrees with or without windchill as the threshold for keeping students in for recess. However, here at Lincoln Elementary, we will have students play outside for recess on dry days when the weather is above 25 degrees. Dismissal If there are any changes in your child’s home transportation you need to contact their assigned teacher AND the office. Per the student handbook: we ask that all transportation adjustments be made by no later than NOON on FULL DAY attendance and 10:00 am on HALF DAY attendance. If transportation changes occur after the cut off time the request may not be honored and the student will then be transported to the location provided in our records. Students who need to leave with their parent or other assigned adult before normal dismissal times must be signed out in the office, so that each student is accounted for in case of an emergency. In order to best ensure the safety of our students, all Lincoln playgrounds are closed to non-school personnel from 8:00-3:00. There will be no staff supervision prior to 8:00. Please keep your child with you outside of the fence if you arrive prior to 8:00 or until after 3:00. Your understanding and flexibility are much appreciated as we work toward the continued safety of all Lincoln students.
